The Sunshine Coast Volunteer Centre is staffed by people who are experienced and knowledgeable in the local and provincial non profit sector. Our motto is “Connecting with Community” and we do this in two ways:
- Organizations provide us with Volunteer Opportunities and we advertise these positions on our website and in our office. We also maintain an online database of over 400 non profit organizations on the coast, which gives the public access to the contact information for all groups on the Sunshine Coast. Therefore we can easily connect a person to their local community, either online, in person, or over the phone.
- We work with agencies and clubs to enhance their programs, offer training, provide consultations and help with advertising their volunteer needs. This builds the capacity of our local organizations which in turn, provides a better experience for both the volunteer and the consumer of these programs.
There is no cost for the general public to utilize our services. We do however, offer membership for enhanced services to local organizations for $30 annually.
The Sunshine Coast Volunteer Centre is supported with a BC Community Gaming grant, and in kind support from the Sechelt Visitor Centre and the District of Sechelt. In the past, we have also received grants from the SCRD Grant in Aid program and the Sunshine Coast Community Foundation.
We are located within the Sechelt Visitor Centre inside the Seaside Centre at 5790 Teredo Street in Sechelt.
