The Food Bank is supported solely through generous financial and food donations from the community, efforts of many supporters who organize food drives and a variety of fund-raising events. A dedicated team of volunteers gathers stores and distributes food to community members in need on a weekly basis.
In 2016, 25 volunteers gave 2842 hours of their time and distributed 13,494 bags of food, representing approximately 1,125 visits per month from people in our community. About 34% of the individuals served by the Food Bank are children. In March 2013 during the annual Hunger Count conducted for Food Banks Canada, 738 adults and 373 children received food from our Food Bank for a total of 1,111 individuals.
