This program, funded by the Ministry for Child and Family Development, provides counselling and treatment for children and youth aged 4 to 18, who have been, or are suspected of having been, sexually abused.
Counsellors help children deal with the effects of trauma at each developmental level. The goals are for optimum, not minimum, functioning, for the child to experience joy in their lives.
Counsellors may work with the individual child or may include family members in the work. The therapists use art and play therapy and creative expression along with other forms of therapeutic interventions.
If you are moving to another community, we will help by providing information about programs in the new community and how to get connected.
Access to Program:
Referrals may be made directly to the program. Referrals may also come from MCFD, Child and Youth Mental Health Services.
Location and Hours:
Counselling is offered at Gibsons Way in Gibsons and at the SCCSS Inlet Office in Sechelt. Flexible hours are offered. Visits are made by appointment.
