This program is designed to support children, teens and their families, who have experienced abuse or violence. The goal is to provide a safe place where children have their experiences validated, and can learn new tools to help them begin the process of healing from the trauma of abuse. Families must be living in safe circumstances in order to participate in the program. Education about the cycle of abuse both in relationships and in the home is an essential component of the program.
The Children Who Witness Abuse Program operates under the BC Ministry of Justice. Operating throughout BC, it has been affiliated with the BC Society of Transition Houses since its inception. Sunshine Coast Community Services has been funded for a part time CWWA program for over 20 years.
