Ian trained in both psychiatric and general nursing in the UK. Married to Cindy, a Canadian and also a nurse, they moved together with their family of four children to Canada in 1988, settling in the Okanagan Valley. Whilst there, Ian held a number of positions within the Mental Health field. He spent several years working with Youth Forensic Psychiatric Services which provided assessment and treatment services to youth involved with the courts.
In the early 2000’s Ian and Cindy moved to the Sunshine Coast where Ian took work with Vancouver Coastal Health in community mental health as Housing Coordinator. He gained a passion for developing the various housing and support services so essential for mental health clients to be able to live as independently as possible in the community.
After several years, finding he missed the rewards of front line clinical work, he elected to move into a case manager position, working with clients with severe and persistent mental illnesses. He is currently enjoying working with these clients and being a part of a hardworking and dedicated team.
In his spare time his family and grandchildren keep him busy, and he enjoys tinkering in his workshop on various projects. He also loves hiking and travelling.
