Upon her retirement from the North Vancouver School District as an educator/counselor Chris and her husband Stan relocated to the Sunshine Coast. She joined the board of Community Services in 1999 and served for 6 years, 3 years as president. Under her leadership the society received its first CARF accreditation, purchased properties on Trail Avenue and Farnham Road and relocated the portable now referred to as Cedar Cottage. Chris went on the board of the Community Resource Centre where she was involved in the creation and management of Vital First Aid and Safety Training. She has received an Award of Excellence for exemplary community service on the Sunshine Coast.
